Collagen Induction Therapy
Skin Needling, Skin Rolling, Derma Rolling
Treat Wrinkles, Stretch Marks, Uneven Skin Texture, Fine Lines and Scars including Surgical Scars!
Skin needling is also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) or skin rolling. This treatment helps you restore collagen and elastin through a natural healing process. Ultra fine, medical quality needles attached to a cylindrical roller create multiple skin puntures that induce a wound healing response that stimulates new collagen and elastin production.
New collagen and elastin improve your skin quality and texture, making the skin feel firmer and smoother and help to repair acne scars, fine wrinkles , stretch marks, surgery scars and uneven skin texture. Most importantly skin needling involves minimal down time and very little discomfort so is a great alternative to VPL/Laser treatment.
How does skin needling work?
Each of the thousands of tiny puncture wounds induces the release of growth factors that begin the process of wound healing. These factors stimulate new collagen and elastin growth in the surrounding skin. New collagen and elastin production is the goal of skin resurfacing and rejuvenation treatments. Once initiated this new collagen production can continue for up to 12 months, resulting in an improvement in skin firmness and texture and a softening and lifting of scars and wrinkles.
What does needling involve?
The roller is passed over the area to be treated multiple times to create an even distribution of tiny “injuries”. Rollers of various sizes and shapes are used for different areas of the body and needles of various lengths, 0.5mm, 1mm, 1.5mm or 2mm are selected according to the condition to be treated and thickness of your skin. A topical anesthetic cream is applied so you don’t feel any uncomfortable sensations. After treatment, skin may appear pink, moist and sensitive for a short period depending on the depth of your treatment. A very light graze consisting of tiny crusted areas that feel rough and look tanned can sometimes occur. Skin may feel tight and dry. Varying amounts of flaking/peeling may occur as healing progresses but is minimal. It is important to protect your new skin from the sun by applying a broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen daily. Vitamin A and C are essential for collagen production and sun damage reversal. It is impossible to achieve high concentrations of vitamin C in the skin by taking tablets orally. Therefore you will be recommended to use skin care products at home that contain high concentrations of these vitamins to enhance your results.
How many treatments will you need?
Generally a minimum of 3-4 treatments are required to achieve improvements in skin firmness & texture. Improvement of scars may take 5 or more treatments. Results accrue gradually because collagen production takes time. Most clients notice an improvement in their skin tone and texture within a few weeks of each treatment. The initially triggered new collagen will eventually be turned into a more permanent type of collagen over time. Substantial results often start to appear only after approximately ten months, after which results will continue to improve with on going treatments. Your initial in-salon treatments are spaced at 4-6 weekly intervals. Following your in-salon visits you will then perform at home needling to maintain and improve your results.
Why choose Gloss Beauty for Skin Needling?
Like any salon treatment there are risks involved. Hygiene is VERY important when it comes to his treatment. Obviously this treatment uses needles (yes very fine needles, but needles all the same) that pierce your skin. For obvious reasons you do not want the same needles used on your skin as have been used on another persons skin. At Gloss Beauty this can NOT happen AS EVERY TREATMENT YOU GET YOUR OWN NEW PERSONAL ROLLER. After each treatment your roller is packed up and disposed of. Secondly, the quality of the needle is very important. The needles are specifically designed to stay attached to the roller whilst rolling over your skin. Cheaper rollers and inferior overseas brands have very real problems with the needles becoming detached from the roller and this can risk the needle becoming embedded in your skin. Not good.
Our Dermal Rollers are made in Australia and are medical grade. Skin Inject Needle Rollers also ensure that the needles are on a 6 degree angle. This minimises scratching and tearing of the skin which occurs with inferior rollers. Thirdly, Skin Inject rollers contain 600 needles per roller (higher than any other medical grade retail roller) meaning you can make over 1/2 a million micro-channels in 10 minutes. Effective, quick and less discomfort than other rollers.
How is your home treatment different to in the salon?
Your treatment in salon is a deeper treatment that also includes an added active vitamin serum applied afterwards for maximum results. Included in our intro offer you will also receive an ultrasound therapy treatment of Vitamin A and C to stimulate a higher collagen production rate by 4400% with each needling treatment.
