But we’d like you to readdress dermaplaning if you haven’t already, as it is one of our top beauty secrets and we really want to share it with you. What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is essentially an exfoliating treatment which ever-so-gently scrapes the surface of your skin to remove dead skin cells. As an added bonus, the fine peach fuzz hair (what you see when you tilt your head into your car rear-vision mirror!) is removed too meaning no more clumpy foundation, and also no more waxing. Some of our clients choose dermaplaning primarily for the hair removal benefits, others as an excellent way to exfoliate without products – yes, so it’s perfect for sensitive skins. Whichever your goal, the fact is that dermaplaning removes the culprit of so many skin issues – dead skin cells.

Why should I have it?

The results speak for themselves. Enjoy a smoother skin, zero peach fuzz and a skin surface free of dead skin cells meaning your treatment products are more able to penetrate the dermis of your skin. To maintain an even skin tone and healthy glow, exfoliation is imperative. But that does not mean scrubbing away at your skin. Dermaplaning removes the build-up of clogged pores and hair follicles. If these are free of build-up, you are less likely to experience break outs. If you have an acneic skin or inflamed breakouts, talk to our therapists about when the best time to schedule your dermaplaning might be.

How does it work?

Dermaplaning is performed using a surgical scalpel – so don’t try this at home! It sounds scary, but our therapists are carefully trained in this technique, following the growth of the hair follicles and contours of your skin with a medical grade, sterile scalpel. Your skin is cleansed first, then your dermaplaning treatment takes place, and following this we apply skin-specific and nutrient rich products which will penetrate beautifully and be at their most effective. And of course, the final touch is an SPF. The treatment takes around 30 minutes and can be combined with many other beauty treatments too. We always suggest adding this with a facial to get the best results.

What else can you tell me?

There is no downtime after dermaplaning, and while you can apply makeup straight away (and we know you’ll be tempted to see how it glides on), we recommend letting your skin breathe and absorb your post-treatment products for the rest of the day.

Our clients who are in-the-know on this beauty treatment, schedule their dermaplaning every 4 – 6 weeks, which is when the fine hairs begin to reappear.
No, dermaplaning does not promote extra hair growth, and neither does it encourage the growth of coarse dark hairs – promise!

Which treatments can I have in combination?

A facial or enzyme treatment is the perfect combination to have with your dermaplaning treatment. This allows for greater penetration from the actives used to leave you with fresh, glowing skin.

Which treatments can I not have in the same appointment?

You can combine dermaplaning with any other beauty services you require although we would say skip the dermapen and dermaplaning together. Dermaplaning is perfect to have 1 week post Dermapen.
